Are Democratic Candidates Hypocritical on Voting Rights?

Related image

Now that the 2020 election season has officially begun, many candidates who seek the Democratic Party's nomination for president are talking about expanded voting rights.

Bernie Sanders-- "The right to vote is inherent in our Democracy..."

Kamela Harris-- "I agree that the right to vote is one of the very important components of citizenship and it is something that people should not be stripped of needlessly..."

Corey Booker--  It is time for a new Voting Rights Act to finally put an end to systematic attempts to limit the access to the ballot box and strip citizens of their constitutionally guaranteed rights.

The Democratic Party candidates are big on standing up on who gets to vote and seem to want to fight hard to stop anyone from having their right to vote infringed.

There are two major problems.  The first is that they want to fight harder to make sure that likely Democrat voters are allowed to vote.  The second is that they have not made one statement about for whom people have a right to vote.  Democrats are all in favor of letting people who are likely to choose Democrat make a choice between Republican and Democrat.  Even the famous Independent Bernie Sanders becomes pure Democrat at presidential election time.  He talks about allowing felons to vote, but not about allowing independents or alternative party candidates to run.

In this way the Democrats are very hypocritical.  They are all in favor of a person's right to vote, just not their right to have a range of choices for whom to vote.

  1. The RADICAL Democratic Leadership have encouraged and are running on 'everything for free' from, healthcare, to education, to guaranteed wages and even a wage if you don't work.
The RDL and ALL their 23 presidential candidates are ALL, floating some kind of Socialism, which will be the demise of the USA if they get their chance.
Treasonous, unAmerican and just plain WRONG.
It would be nice if the RADICAL Democrats dropped the RADICAL, and began caring about the well-being of their fellow American Citizens.

    1. Anyone is calling publicly funded services "free" certainly doesn't understand it.

I think the press is misreporting it when they say "So and so calls for FREE x". Publicly funded services, right or wrong, are certainly not RADICAL, as they are common throughout the world. Basic Income, however, is radical.

Is NASA socialism? Maybe, but without it, there would be no Space X without it. Will NASA always be needed? I expect it will give way to the privately owned companies that it bootstrapped.

  2. I am a Democrat. Do you mind a democratic voice on your blog? If you would prefer me not commenting, let me know and I'll shut my yap.

However, I'd like like clarification before I stick my foot in my mouth.

You say it is a problem that Democrats fight hard to make sure likely Democratic voters get to vote. Is the problem that they should instead be fighting for all voters getting the right to vote? Or is it that people likely to vote democratic are undesirable and should not be allowed the right to vote?

I'm not exactly sure what your second point means. I would think it would go without saying that you get to vote for who you want to vote for. Are talking about how the party leadership picks favorites in primaries?
